Corrosion Resistance:Alloy 59 (W.Nr.2.4605, NiCr23Mo16Al) is a high-nickel alloy product invented by VDM in Germany, formerly known as Nicrofer 5923 hMo, now generally referred to as VDM 59 alloy or 59 alloy. Due to extremely low carbon and silicon content, VDM 59 alloy does not tend to have grain boundary dispersion, which is beneficial for hot forming or welding. Therefore, the alloy can be used in many oxidative and reductive chemical media. Additionally, due to its high nickel, chromium, and molybdenum content, VDM 59 alloy exhibits increased resistance to chloride ion corrosion. It shows excellent corrosion resistance to inorganic acids such as nitric acid, phosphoric acid, sulfuric acid, and hydrochloric acid, especially to mixed acids of sulfuric acid and hydrochloric acid, demonstrating outstanding resistance to corrosion by various mixed inorganic acid solutions.
Applications:Washers, heat exchangers, baffles, ventilators, and agitators for flue gas desulfurization (FGD) in ships and thermal power plants, industries involving plant and waste incineration, SO2 gaskets for marine diesel engines, components for seawater and concentrated brine, equipment and parts for geothermal energy and acidic gas applications, reactors for acetic acid and acetic anhydride, sulfuric acid coolers.
Matching Welding Materials:For alloy 59, AWS A5.14 ERNiCrMo-13 wire and AWS A5.11 ENiCrMo-13 rod are recommended.
