Corrosion Resistance:
Haynes Alloy C-276 is a tungsten-containing nickel-chromium-molybdenum alloy with extremely low silicon and carbon content, considered a versatile corrosion-resistant alloy. The alloy exhibits the following characteristics:
Excellent corrosion resistance to most corrosive media in both oxidizing and reducing environments.
Outstanding resistance to pitting, crevice corrosion, and stress corrosion. The higher molybdenum and chromium content enables the alloy to resist chloride ion corrosion, while the addition of tungsten further enhances its corrosion resistance. Additionally, C-276 alloy is one of the few materials resistant to corrosion by moist chlorine gas, hypochlorite, and chlorine dioxide solutions, and it demonstrates significant resistance to highly concentrated chloride solutions such as ferric chloride and cupric chloride. It is suitable for sulfuric acid solutions of various concentrations and is one of the few materials that can be used in hot concentrated sulfuric acid solutions.
