Corrosion Resistance:Compared with 316L and 317L austenitic stainless steels, 2205 duplex alloy has superior performance in resistance to pitting corrosion and crevice corrosion. It has very high corrosion resistance. Compared with austenitic stainless steel, it has a lower coefficient of thermal expansion and higher thermal conductivity. Compared with austenitic stainless steel, the pressure resistance of 2205 alloy is twice as high, and compared with 316L and 317L, designers can reduce its weight. 2205 alloy is particularly suitable for the temperature range of -50°F to +600°F, and can also be used at lower temperatures under strict limitations (especially for welded structures).
Application Fields:Equipment in the petroleum and natural gas industry; offshore platforms, heat exchangers, underwater equipment, firefighting equipment; chemical processing industry, vessels, and piping industry; desalination, high-pressure RO equipment, and submarine pipelines; energy industry such as power plant flue gas desulfurization and denitrification (FGD) systems, industrial washing systems, absorption towers; mechanical components (high-strength, corrosion-resistant, wear-resistant parts).
Matching Welding Material:For welding 2205 duplex steel, ER2209 welding wire and E2209 welding rod are recommended.
