Hastelloy “BC-1®”
Basic Information:
BC-1® (UNS N10362) alloy is a patented product by the U.S.-based Haynes International.
Corrosion Resistance:
Compared to the Hastelloy C-series alloys, BC-1® offers superior resistance to hydrochloric acid, hydrobromic acid, and sulfuric acid. It exhibits exceptional resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion and can withstand exposure to reducing acids even in oxidizing environments.
Physical Properties:
This alloy is suitable for use at temperatures up to approximately 427°C (800°F).
Fabrication Properties:
BC-1® has excellent workability and can be processed using various methods, including cold and hot working. However, due to its high work hardening tendency, selecting appropriate tools and processing parameters during fabrication is essential.
Application Environments:
BC-1® alloy is widely used in the chemical processing, pharmaceutical, agriculture, food, petrochemical, and power industries. It excels in environments involving reducing acids and acid mixtures (with or without halides) exposed to oxygen or other oxidizing residues/contaminants.
